What is State of Peace in the M23 Controlled Areas?

By 12th may 2022, over thousands Congolese had fled the country’s East region and arrived in neighboring countries, in Uganda, and Rwanda. Today, the number of displaced Congolese within Kisoro has lowered with an increase of many of them turning back to their country under the control of M23 Movement because there is peace.

And in the past few months, Kisoro RDC H.E Shafiq Ssekandi initiated efforts to repatriate those who were sleeping in Bunagana side of Uganda and advised to peacefully cooperate with the M23, September 2022 survey found that 80 percent of Congolese in Bunagana returned to their homes in Eastern Congo and up to now they have never appeared anymore running away.

The truth is that the whole of M23 controlled area is safe. It is the first time ever those Congolese citizens in M23 captured zone are able to enjoy peace, freedom and stability.

The international community can also help bring peace in the troubled North Kivu through supporting and working with the M23 movement because it has so far proved to be people oriented movement.

According to a poll by the independent media Kampala published last month, almost 90 percent of Congolese in conquered areas see m23 as a blessing they have been dreaming of since the country’s independence, in an urbanized and modernized society, there are many families who are willing to send their boys to a real war against FDRL working hand in hand with FARDC.

So far the M23 is the first rebel movement to provide affordable access to finance and peaceful environment for businesses, transformation of agriculture through allowing all those that deal in it to cultivate peacefully without burden of being overtaxed as it has been under Kinshasa regime is no more, people have so far planted their crops and they look well in beautiful volcanic soil and amazing hills.

Businesses are operating on daily basis 24/7 without any disturbance because the M23 is promoting free trade and movement of goods in the area however there is issue of bad infrastructure which is hindering movement of some goods to reach in every village but this will son be solved by constructing better roads.
